The Neuromuscular Treatment Institute is devoted to the relief of pain, primarily through the administration of a medication called BOTOX®. Staffed by experienced neurologists, including the team physician for the Miami Heat, the Institute specialize in the treatment of head, neck and back pain, TMJ, and headaches, including migraine headaches.

OUR MEDICAL STAFF

Allan Herskowitz, M.D., F.A.C.P.

Dr. Herskowitz attended the University of Florida and received a B.S. in chemistry and his medical degree from the University Of Miami School Of Medicine. He did an internal medicine internship at the Boston City Hospital-Tufts division and a neurology residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He is a board certified neurologist who practices general neurology and has an interest in sports medicine. He has been the team physician and medical director for the Miami Heat since 1988 and has published numerous scientific articles and participated in clinical research. He is the medical director of Neuromuscular Treatment Institute, which specializes in the use of BOTOX® therapy for chronic pain syndromes, focusing primarily on headaches and neck and back pain. Dr. Herskowitz is a fellow in the American College of Physicians and American Academy of Neurology. He is the Chief of Neurology at Baptist Health System and devotes a major part of his practice to BOTOX® Therapy.

Bernard Gran, M.D.

Dr. Bernard Gran received his medical degree from the University Of Miami School Of Medicine in 1976. He completed an internship and residency in Neurology at Jackson Memorial Hospital in 1980. He also spent one year at the National Institute of Health in the section of Neuroimmunology. He is board certified in Neurology. He is a member of several Neurological organizations and was a voluntary associate clinical professor at The University of Miami School of Medicine for 18 years. He has a particular interest in headaches and epilepsy.

Brad Herskowitz, M.D.

Dr. Herskowitz received his medical degree from the University of Miami in 1996. He went on to complete two years of an internal medicine residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital before finishing a three year neurology residency at Yale University in June of 2001, where he was the Chief Resident. His interest lies in general neurology but has a special interest in vascular neurology. He has received extensive training at Yale places him on the forefront of neurological diagnostics and therapeutics. He was pleased to join his father, Dr. Allan Herskowitz, and The Neuroscience Consultants, CC1 August 2001. He is a board certified Neurologist and director of the Electrophysiologic laboratory at Baptist Health System. He has special training and expertise in BOTOX® Therapy.

Paul Damski, M.D.

Dr. Damski graduated with honors from Harvard College and received his medical degree from the University Of Miami School Of Medicine in 1997. He spent a year in Internal Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital and completed his neurology residency from Jackson Memorial Hospital in 2001. He is board certified in Neurology and has joined the staff at Baptist, South Miami, Jackson South and Cedars Medical Center. Dr. Damski will focus his practice of general neurology but has special interest in stroke treatment and prevention. He serves as Medical Director of the Baptist Hospital Stroke Center.

Mark A. Bryer, MD, FRCP(C), D.ABSM

Dr. Bryer graduated with honors at the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa and received his medical degree in 1988.  After immigrating to Canada he completed a year in Internal Medicine and Neurology Residency at the University of Manitoba in 1996.  Thereafter,  a Neuromuscular Fellowship at the University of Massachusetts followed.  In addition, he has had extensive experience in sleep disorders and neurovascular testing.  Before joining Neuroscience Consultants, he served as Chief of Neurology at Akron General Medical Center and an Associate Professor at the Northeastern Ohio University College of Medicine.  He is Board Certified in Neurology (U.S.A. and Canada), Clinical Neurophysiology and Sleep Medicine.  Dr. Bryer practices general neurology with a special interest in neuromuscular disease and sleep medicine.
